Before any new network is brought into supply or energised, it must be tested and commissioned to the standard required for adoption. Aquamain carries out testing and commissioning of water and electricity networks, giving developers and network operators the assurance that assets are safe, compliant and ready to adopt.

We also offer pressure testing services for non-potable installations such as PE riser mains.

How we commission a water network

Water commissioning, step by step

Potable and non-potable pipe commissioning for both plastic and metal pipework:

01 · Swabbing

The pipe is swabbed through to clear any debris left behind from installation.

02 · Pressure testing

The new main is pressure-tested to confirm it holds and is free of leaks before it goes into supply.

03 · Chlorination

The main is chlorinated and disinfected so it is safe to carry potable water.

04 · Sampling

Water samples are taken and tested to confirm the main meets the quality standard required for adoption.
