Our WIRS Accreditation Signals Our Commitment to Quality

Water Industry Registration Scheme logo

Fully WIRS Accredited with the Lloyds Registry

We have over 20 years of experience gained across the entire lifecycle of water asset services and have been a WIRS accredited self-lay organisation for the construction of all mains and services since 2010.

To achieve and maintain our full accreditation status, Aquamain must be technically assessed and demonstrate ongoing competency and compliance across project methods and control, design, contracts, HR, procurement, and delivery.

Our accreditation is testament to our entire team who provide water provision services from early consultation, successfully awarded projects, water asset services management and delivery on site through to our technical experts managing our support services.

WIRS accredited companies such as Aquamain provide the very best self-lay services

The Water Industry Regulation Scheme

WIRS is solely dedicated to designers and contractors who provide new connections to the existing water supply or sewerage system and allows contractors who meet the requirements to become registered as accredited WIRS providers.

The Water Industry Regulation Scheme is recognised and backed by all the Water Utilities in England and Wales and allows registered WIRS Providers to tender for and implement the design, installation and commissioning of water mains and services.

The LRQA is responsible for operating the Water Industry Regulation Scheme on behalf of water companies and provides the standard used to independently assess and verify self-lay providers working to strict regulations within the water industry with regular input from OFWAT.

What the WIRS accreditation means for developers

As a contractor, maintaining our WIRS accreditation signals our commitment and promise to always work to the best standards so that we can look to carry out the installation and commissioning of water mains and associated services for developers across Southern England and Wales.

Contractors that are not accredited need water utility approval from the relevant regional water company which could lead to delays or non-approval of planned works.

As a WIRS accredited self-lay organisation, Aquamain don’t need to be approved by separate water companies as our registration negates this and gives us the opportunity to bid for and undertake any contestable water main installations and services for developers with regular cost and timings savings.

WIRS accreditation levels awarded to Aquamain

We currently hold the WIRS accreditation in the Southeast and Southwest of England, The Midlands and Wales for:

  • CMS construction of mains and services (all works)
  • CRMC construction of routine mains connections
  • CRUPC construction routine under pressure mains connections

We have worked with Aquamain for a number of years now and can recommend them as a competitive, reliable and proactive contractor. We have found them to be a good partner in delivering infrastructure on our developments on time and on budget."
